Inclusive ‘Holiness’: Selected Issues of Ecclesiology and Soteriology in the Mariavite Old Catholic Church

Abstract

The text concerns the inclusive approach to the issue of holiness in two aspects of Mariavite theological reflection: ecclesiology and soteriology. The starting point for the considerations is to show holiness as an ecumenically important but also sensitive issue. The Mariavite understanding of the concept of holiness is also presented, as well as the proposed model of hagiomemory, touching the borderline between individual and community experience of holiness in the Mariavite Old Catholic Church. These issues prompt reflection on questions about the universality of salvation, the question of damnation, eternal reward in heaven or eternal suffering, and reincarnation.
