The beginning of the Free Christians movement in Poland till 1918

Abstract
The article presents the emergence of the Free Brethren movement in Poland before 1918 when the country regained its independence. It was a continuation of the Plymouth Brethren movement that started in Dublin in 1830. The beginning of the Brethren’s activity in Poland is connected to religious revival that took place independently at the turn of the centuries in the Neopietist Lutheran circles in Śląsk Cieszyński and in the form of the Mariavite Catholic Church in central Poland. The article presents the founders and crucial events that led to the emergence of first Brethren Churches in Śląsk as well as of the Society of First Christian Teaching’s Followers based in Warsaw.
