The concept of the work at Sunday School, analysis of the lectures of Rev. Karol Kotula given in 1928 in Ustroń during the workshops for Sunday-school teachers

Abstract
Article „The koncept of the work on Sunday School, analysis of the lectures of Rev. Karol Kotula given in 1928 in Ustroń during the workshops for Sunday-school teachers”, deals with the concept of the Kotula’s vision work on Sunday school, and is based on the number of his lectures published in “Methodology of the Sunday school work” which were inspired by the thoughts of German educator Johann Heinrich Schürena (1801-1874). The purpose of the article is to show the concept of Kotula’s ideas of the work on Sunday school and is divided into five parts: the aim of the Sunday school; the child as a participant on Sunday school; the organisation of the Sunday school classes; the methodology of Sunday school, and the teacher and their work.
The first part deals with the terminology “Sunday school” which is often called as “Churchservice for children” as well. The second part shows the life and work of Rev. Kotula, concentraining mainly on his work and contribution in developing the concept of Sunday- school in The Lutheran Church in Poland. The third part describes the circumstances of the given lectures on Sunday School concept, which were held/took place in 1928 in Ustroń during special six-day workshops for Sunday-school teachers. To understand better the background of the Kotula’s lectures, it is necessary to look at the life, work and thought of J.H. Schüren, Gedanken über den Religions-Unterricht der Christlichen Volksschule (1888), which is described in part four. The last part of the article shows the characteristic of the Kotula’s concept of the Sunday-school work based on the work of J.H. Schüren.
