    Archpriest Nicholas Kopiev and his charitable donations in support of the Orthodox Church in the Kholmsky region

    Abstract

    The article is devoted to the research of contributions of the famous Moscow clergyman – archpriest Nicholas Kopiev - in the development of the Orthodox Church in Poland, primarily in the Kholmsky region. Based on the
    studied materials, the charitable help rendered by this priest to the St. Onufry monastery in Yablechna which experienced an apogee of activity at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the works of the Abbot Seraphim
    martyr (Ostroumov) is described. The great importance of the tactically correct approach of these priests in an Orthodox mission is noted through the prism of charitable and educational activity. An attempt to research the biography of archpriest Nicholas Kopiev, which has not been presented in scientific literature to date, is offered. On its example, the tradition of ktetorship and charitable donation is updated.
