Abstract

In this publication, on the basis of archival and periodic sources, the influence of the Catholic Redemptorist Order on the development of the Uniate movement in the Volyn Voivodeship of interwar Poland is analyzed. The circumstances of the appearance of the Redemptorists in Volyn are shown, the reasons for their move from Kostopol to Kovel are revealed, the development of the Redemptorist center in this city is investigated, the reasons for the liquidation of the mission are named. An analysis of the activities of the Redemptorists in Volyn allows us to conclude that the representatives of this order played an exceptional role in organizing of the Greek Catholic movement here, associated with the colonization of Volyn by immigrants from Galicia. As for the Neo-Union, which began to develop in the Volyn Voivodeship since 1925, the contribution of the Redemptorists is much more modest.
