„Leunberg Agreement” and Polish Evangelical Churches

Abstract

The aim of the text is to analyze the significance of the “Leuenberg Agreement” for the Evangelical Churches in Poland: the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland, the Evangelical Reformed Church in Poland and the Evangelical Methodist Church in Poland. This was analyzed in three contexts. Firstly, the relationship between the “Leuenberg Agreement” and bilateral agreements introducing the community of altar and pulpit between Polish Churches and the “Leuenberg Agreement”. Secondly, in the context of the question about the influence of the “Leuenberg Agreement” on the proposals for the creation of a Polish united Protestant Church formulated in the Polish evangelical debate. Thirdly, and finally, the reception of the “Leuenberg Agreement” and the achievements of the Communion of Evangelical Churches in Europe in the life of Polish Evangelical Churches.
