Theological and church issues discussed in „Polska Odrodzona” magazine of the PNCC in Poland in 1923

Abstract

The Polish Catholic Church (until 1951, PNCC in Poland)  was established by Bishop F. Hodur in the United States and moved to Poland in 1918. One of the Church’s activities is publishing work. Church publications covered topics in the fields of theology, social sciences and history. The aim of the article is to show the content of the magazine “Polska Odrodzona”, published in 1923, the first year of publication. Answers were sought to the questions to what extent the content published by the magazine related to the activities of the Church, and into what subgroups the texts published in the magazine could be divided. Research showed that the content discussed in the magazine can be divided into four groups: 1. Church history, poetry, patriotism, 2. Polemics, news and comments on the then current situation, 3. PNCC’s teaching, 4. Theology. The most important conclusion is that all texts published in the magazine helped present the main assumptions of the PNCC and served to confirm the most important issues for the Church.
