Similarities and Differencesin the Rite of Pontifical Services in the Slavic and Greek liturgical traditions. Sample selections

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the similarities and differences between the pontifical services of the Slavonic and Greek traditions. The study focused on the liturgical vestments of the bishops and the manner of celebrating Vespers, Matins and the Liturgy, as well as the priestly and diaconal cheirotonia. The results of the study led to the conclusion that when it comes to the episcopal ceremony of the Orthodox services and both Greek and Slavic traditions are ancient and historically rooted. The differences relate only to secondary issues and those arising from local customs. . The differences relate only to secondary issues and those arising from local customs.
