Abstract
This article is about one of the best known hierarchs of the persecuted Russian church at the turn of the XXth century, Damaskin Tsedrik. Based on archival documents, it traces his biography up until his death as a martyr in the Karaganda concentration camp in 1937. The author analyses the educational and missionary work and preaching of this hierarch, relates in detail the circumstances and historical background of his arrest, the persecution of the Church, the life of the Catacomb Church, and his conclusions about the circumstances of the Russian Church in Russia of the XXth century.
