    The theological-liturgical dimension of the catholicity of the Church

    Abstract

    The theological-liturgical dimension of the catholicity of the Church flows out of Orthodox ecclesiology, which is based on the Creed. Catholicity is a term used on a par with the term Conciliarity (Sobornost), although a slightly different meaning is sometimes attributed to the latter. The unity of the Church is expressed only and exclusively in the unity of the Holy Eucharist. Now the Orthodox Church is experiencing an interruption of Eucharistic communion between some of the local Churches. To overcome it, inter-Orthodox dialogue and conciliar resolution of difficult issues related to the topic of autocephaly and the right to grant it is necessary. A conciliar decision also requires a clear definition of the method of the return and acceptance into the Church of persons who do not have canonical consecration.
