Protestant schools in the context of a pluralistic educational environment

Abstract

Education system in Poland provide for the existence of schools of various types. By far the largest group are public schools, often called state schools. In addition to such schools, schools with individualized educational profiles run by private individuals, social and religious organizations are allowed to operate. This group of schools includes Protestant schools. These schools constitute a definite minority in the education system. Protestant schools operate within specific educational environments, which are created not only by students, teachers and parents, but also by the religious community with its institutions, e.g. of a social and diaconal nature. A significant challenge for religious schools is the situation of pluralism and social diversity. In this article, we will present the implications resulting from the pluralistic nature of the school environment for understanding a denominational school.
